If you’re looking to play some excellent video games here in 2016, you can do much worse than a Nintendo 3DS. The Wii U may have been a bit of a misfire, but the 3DS is a solid system with some of the best games released in the last few years: Nintendo still has the best first part development of any hardware manufacturer, and this is where that muscle really comes to bear. The fact that you can play it on your commute is just gravy. So: the best deals on Nintendo 3DS for Black Friday.
Hardware-wise, this deal is easy. Nintendo has released two versions of the new 3DS, one black and one white, both with Mushroom Kingdom detailing, for $99. That’s what you’ll be seeing at pretty much every retailer selling the thing on Black Friday, so don’t stress about where you’ll get it.
Note: The new Nintendo 3DS does not come with a charger. So buy one, especially if this is a gift. No kid wants their new console dying as soon as it runs out of residual battery. You’ll also need a game.
While it’s not a 3DS, it’s also worth noting that Gamestop is unloading pre-owned Wiis for $39.99. Wii Bowling remains one of the great achievements of the early 21st century, so this is eminently worth it.
Black Friday is one of your best opportunities to pick up discounted Nintendo games as well, because these things rarely go on sale. First party Nintendo development is pretty reliable, so you know what you’ll be getting. Head over to Erik Kain’s list for a complete rundown of what’s on sale, and by how much. If Pokémon GO has you itching to play a mainline Pokémon game, Omega Ruby, X, and Y are all on sale. Don’t except deals on the recently released Sun and Moon, but those are excellent, too.
