With Final Fantasy XV released in just a few days, it seems that Nier: Automata will be getting a rather interesting crossover.
Specifically that the character YoRHa No.2 Type B from Nier: Automata is able to wield the Engine Blade used by Noctis in Final Fantasy XV (as shown above).
The Engine Blade is one of many weapons Noctis can use and is integrated with what looks to be some kind of motorcycle engine.
The big advantage of the Engine Blade is that it has its own special evasion ability in Final Fantasy XV, which is also something that appears to have been carried over to Nier: Automata (shown below).
While Final Fantasy XV is released on November 29th, Nier: Automata currently has its Japanese release date listed as February 23rd. So it seems that Square Enix is shrewdly using this crossover at the height of Final Fantasy XV’s marketing push in order to bring more attention to Nier: Automata.
Personally, I have no problem with this. The Nier games deserve a lot more attention than they get and Nier: Automata, which is developed by Platinum Games, is clearly looking like it could be something rather special.
With any luck we will see Nier: Automata get given a Western release sometime next year but in the meantime, it looks like Final Fantasy XV’s influence has already started to creep into other games.
