Road to Boruto, the upcoming expansion to the surprisingly good Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, has shown off more of its gameplay prior to its February release and it’s looking good.
Road to Boruto is meant to tie into the follow on movie that deals with the life of Naruto Uzumaki’s son, Boruto.
As a result, this expansion includes characters from this part of the timeline, such as an older Naruto and Sasuke as well as their kids.
The Boruto spin-off movie was an interesting attempt to reboot the Naruto franchise with an updated set of characters, while staying true to the original series.
The fact that CyberConnect2 has managed to add this part of the narrative to its excellent line of Naruto games is very much welcomed. Personally, I am sad that this is the last Naruto game the studio is working on for the near future. Of all the anime tie-in games out there, CyberConnect2’s Naruto games have always been some of the very best.
The new gameplay footage (shown below) does a good job of breaking down much of what you can expect in the game, from a full re-enactment of the events in the latest movie to all manner of new playable characters with their new styles.
Like the previous releases, the cel shading and combat mechanics look great and if you’re a fan of Naruto, then it’s clear you will have fun with this.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road To Boruto is released for PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 3rd.
