SEGA has promised an "exclusive first look at the future of Sonic" during a special 25th Anniversary event taking place this July.
The event, which is being held in San Diego on July 22, will also feature live performances from Sonic music creators Crush 40 and be host to some "very special announcements".
But while SEGA has yet to confirm plans to reveal a new game at the event, PR & Social Media Manager Aaron Webber strongly hinted at a new game announcement during an SXSW panel hosted on Saturday.
"If you are looking forward to a game announcement, I'm not saying there's going to be a game announcement at this party but you should totally come to this party," he said.
The date for the event suggests that SEGA won't be revealing a new Sonic game at E3, which takes place one month earlier on June 14-16. Tickets for the SEGA event are available to purchase now for $25.
