Films based on videogames are known to be the absolute worst. For every passable popcorn flick like Mortal Kombat, there are two dozen clunkers filled with head-scratching plots, bad acting, and even worse dialogue.
But just like all the hardcore gamers out there, the studios keep mashing those buttons, hoping to someday beat the final boss and achieve box-office gold. Therefore, we can look forward to a slew of new, big-screen adaptations on the horizon. This week's big-screen version of Ratchet & Clank will be followed by Angry Birds, Warcraft, Assassin’s Creed, and yet another Resident Evil installment.
We take a look back at some of the worst videogame movies ever made in the hopes that, at least by comparison, the new crop will seem better.
