Battlefield 1 has been officially revealed by EA, with the game releasing worldwide on October 21 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Anyone who buys the Early Enlister Edition will be able to play from the 18th. As with all EA titles, the game will be available on EA Access early, starting October 16.
UPDATE 2: A further image has appeared on Reddit revealing an October 18, 2016 release date. Pre-order customers will also receive the Hellfighter Pack containing "themed items inspired by the heroic Harlem Hellfighter infantry regiment".
The Harlem Hellfighters were an African-American infantry regiment in World War 1, which appears to confirm the rumoured WWI setting.
An official reveal is due at 9pm BST tonight.
UPDATE: An image of an alleged marketing poster has also appeared online, revealing that the game is called Battlefield 1.
Part of a release date - xx.x8.16 - can also be seen, along with details of an unannounced DLC pack.
ORIGINAL STORY: A new image of this year's Battlefield has appeared on the Xbox One dashboard ahead of its official reveal, indicating that the game could be set during World War 1.
The image appears to show a man wearing a trench coat while holding a Mauser pistol and spiked trench club. An airship can also be seen flying above him in the background, while a gas mask and various other weaponry appears to be attached to his belt.
The image was originally captured by multiple users on Reddit, although we've since been able to verify it for ourselves. Go and take a look in the Community section on your Xbox One right now if you want to see it for yourself.
The leak backs up earlier rumours claiming that the game could be set during World War 1. A full official reveal is due at 9pm tonight.
