Dawn of War 3 coming to PC in 2017; promises to be the game 'fans have been waiting for' - Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 for PC News

SEGA has announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3, the long-awaited third game in the classic RTS franchise.

Currently in development at Relic and due for release exclusively on PC in 2017, Dawn of War 3 promises to be "the Dawn of War that fans have been waiting for", combining the "epic scale" of the original game with the customisation and elite heroes of Dawn of War 2.

"The result is a best-in-class edition giving players the rich strategic experience, stunning visuals, and catastrophic surprises that they've come to expect as Relic brings the franchise into the modern era," says SEGA.

While the first screenshots have yet to be released, players will get to lead huge armies and elite hero units into brutal battles between the Space Marines, Eldar and Orks as "screen-shaking assaults blister the battlefield in an all-out, over-the-top spectacle". You can check out the first trailer in the video below.

"This is the Dawn of War that fans have been waiting for," said executive producer Stephen MacDonald. "Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes, huge battles, it’s all in there. Get ready for the biggest Dawn of War yet. For the Emperor!"

"This announcement is a big moment for all of us at Relic, and at SEGA," added Relic's general manager Justin Dowdeswell. "We’re setting the bar for what we can achieve, and showing players what they can expect from us in the future. This is just the beginning."

Dawn of War 3's announcement follows seven years after the release of Dawn of War 2, which launched on PC back in February 2009. The game is due for release in 2017, although a more exact date has yet to be announced.
