New images from 20th Century Fox's Assassin's Creed movie have been released ahead of the debut trailer coming on Wednesday.
The film stars Michael Fassbender as Aguilar, a new Assassin created specifically for the film, and new modern day counterpart Callum Lynch who discovers his connection to the 15th century Assassin via his genetic memories. The action will take place in 15th century Spain.
Director Justin Kurrzel (Macbeth) spoke to the LA Times about his reasons for taking on the project, which is of a much greater scale than anything he has tackled before.
"That's probably what attracted me to it – how frightening it was," he said.
He added that he hasn't attempted to replicate the game on film, but instead focus on the story.
"I spent most of my time with the story and the real history," said Kurzel. "That was my main focus – not so much forensically going through every aspect of the game. It was: How do you make this into a piece of cinema?"
Assassin's Creed will launch in UK cinemas on December 26.
