Sales of current consoles will reach 100 million units sold in 2020, Capcom has said.
"Our perception of the home video game market is that it will continue to be active at the global level, as we believe the install base of major home video game consoles will break the 100 million unit mark in 2020," said the publisher in a FY2015 Financial Results Question and Answer Summary released today.
It's not clear which consoles Capcom includes in the figure, but we assume Nintendo NX and any future updates to PS4 and Xbox One will be part of the total.
"The console purchases are up through the end of calendar year '15, our estimate is 55 million units out there which has exceeded virtually everyone's forecast for the year and now almost 50% higher than previous console cycle so, all of that is very-very positive," said EA CFO Blake Jorgensen back in January.
NX and Sony's PS4 Neo are expected to be revealed later this year, with some expecting MS to discuss its plans at E3 next month.
