Titanfall 2's 'leaked' August 30 release date probably isn't true - Titanfall 2 for PS4 News

Titanfall 2 releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC on August 30, 2016, according to a listing by Middle-Eastern retailer MEPlay (as reported by GearNuke).

Except... it probably doesn't. Earlier this month, EA confirmed that Titanfall 2 isn't due to release until the third quarter of its current financial year, which runs from October 1-December 31. An August 30 date, then, seems way too soon.

On top of that, EA's CEO Andrew Wilson has also said that he isn't concerned about the game releasing close to rival shooter Battlefield 1, which launches during the same quarter on October 21.

"There is a very broad and diverse set of players who play games in that category who are looking to fulfil different gameplay motivations," Wilson said earlier this month when asked about the possibility of the two games eating into one another's sales.

"Some people play very quick play, some people more strategic play, and some people want both in different context. The result of that is, we feel like we actually have a really strong position to deliver the broadest set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to first-person shooter genre across the two titles, and feel very confident that we are well-positioned to do very well in that category in the year."

So, while an August 30 release might be nice (and give the game plenty of space ahead of Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare), it almost certainly isn't accurate. Expect a final release date to be announced at E3 next month.
