Devolver announces online combat RPG Absolver - Absolver for PC News

Devolver has announced Absolver, a new third-person online combat RPG heading to PC and console in 2017.

Developed by indie studio Sloclap, the game puts players in control of a Prospect, a mask-wearing warrior who must wander the forsaken lands of Adal while fighting off other online players to prove they are worthy of joining an elite group of Absolvers.

As players progress they will learn new combat styles, acquire new weapons, gear and armour, and build their own team of warriors to fight alongside them, with the game promising "fluid real-time combat" and both PvP and PvE gameplay. You can check out the first trailer below.

Built using Unreal Engine 4, Slocap says that the game has been in production since May 2015, with the studio comprising of former Watch Dogs and Ghost Recon developers.

"The studio is excited to debut our first game with Devolver Digital and get it into the hands of gamers and media at E3," said Sloclap's creative lead Pierre Tarno. "Absolver is the result of our combined experiences in game development and we believe that our team has created something special together. We think the world would be a much better place if there were no guns. Then we could finally focus on important things, like sword fighting and how to kill a man with one punch."

The first gameplay footage of Absolver will be revealed during an E3 livestream on Twitch, taking place at 1am BST on Tuesday, June 14. Details on which consoles the game is headed to have yet to be confirmed.
