Over 350,000 Mega Drive games have been sold on Steam since the launch of the SEGA Mega Drive Hub on April 28, SEGA has announced, making the 16-bit console the most popular it's been since the early 90s.
The hub introduced a virtual 90s bedroom complete with a bookshelf of Mega Drive games and a retro CRT TV, along with support for Steam Workshop, allowing players to officially mod a range of classic SEGA games. You can check out a teaser in the vid below.
"We're really chuffed that the fans have got behind this update," said SEGA Europe's Director of Digital Distribution James Schall. "350,000 sales is a phenomenal achievement for content which is over 20 years old! It shows that there’s still a huge following out for the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis, reinvigorated by the fantastic community of modders out there uploading great content."
A number of classic Mega Drive games are available on Steam, including Streets of Rage, Gunstar Heroes, Ecco the Dolphin, Ristar and Sonic The Hedgehog. Prices start from £1.99.
