Sony expects to sell 20 million PS4 consoles in the financial year ending March 31, 2017, a figure which means Sony believes sales of the system can continue to grow year-on-year.
In financial year 2014 14.8 million PS4 consoles were sold, increasing to 17.7 million in the year ended March 31, 2016. This figure is expected to increase by 2.3 million in the current fiscal year.
Hitting 20 million would see the PS4 reach 60 million sales by March 31, 2017. The console launched in November 2013.
Of course, Sony is likely to cut the price of the PS4 at some point in the coming year, especially if a new more powerful system is revealed.
