Let The Battle Hymn of Vengeance psych you up for some xeno-smashing in this trailer for Space Hulk: Deathwing.
There’s been no shortage of Warhammer 40k games as of late. But even so, a new Space Hulk is always a special occasion. One of the oldest games in tabletop publisher Games Workshop’s catalog, Space Hulk has been translated to video game form many times. This latest version, from Streum On, is looking like a way more action-oriented romp than usual.
There’ve been exceptions, but usually Space Hulk games are turn-based strategy affairs. Deathwing though, looks like it’s ready to rain fire and brimstone on the Genestealer horde. And set on the Space Hulk Olethros, it looks exactly what you and your Terminator squad will be tasked with doing.
That’s not to say that this one won’t have some deeper elements though. You’ll have to order your team around during combat, commanding them “to hold choke points, hack into doors, and cover your advance”. Streum On also says that the game will have some customization features. There’ll be plenty of skills to level up as you go too. And as you might have guessed, this mission will be playable in both solo and multiplayer modes.
A good story might also be in the offing, as the narrative behind the action is being co-crafted by Gavin Thorpe. You might recognize that name as he’s written for the Dark Angels Space Marines before.
One to definitely keep an eye on, Space Hulk: Deathwing hits the PC this November.
