Pokémon Go Has a Way to Work Off All That Halloween Candy

Niantic’s Pokémon-snatching augmented reality game that’s really a stealth fitness regimen with touring perks has a few Halloween tricks it hopes might lure fans out and about in the lead up to All Hallow’s Eve.

Starting Wednesday, October 26 and running through Tuesday, November 1, Pokémon Go will dish out twice the Candy rewards had from catching, hatching and transferring Pokémon.

You’ll also bump into more Pokémon with creepy names, like Haunter, a predatory battler that in series lore lurks in dark spaces, waiting to pounce. Assuming Niantic’s idea of spooky means more Ghost type Pokémon on the prowl, the Pokémon Bulbapedia (an unofficial wiki for the series) has a nice list of full, half and secondary Ghost type Pokémon here.

The game’s also fresh off a weekend update that adds new egg features (egg patterns now vary depending on the distance necessary to hatch them), Pokémon “type” icons added to each critters’ info screen and a low battery indicator for the optional Bluetooth-based Pokémon Go Plus accessory.
